A Somerset tradition
More than four centuries of fire, light and spectacle.
Bridgwater’s November celebrations grew from the bonfire traditions that followed the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. By the mid-nineteenth century, costumed processions and the town’s distinctive Bridgwater Squibs had become a spectacle with a character all its own.
Newspaper records trace the carnival to 1847. After disorder in 1880, local organisers formed the first carnival committee and staged an official procession in 1881, helping establish the tradition now recognised as the UK’s oldest carnival and one of Europe’s great illuminated processions.

When is the live broadcast?
Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival Live starts at 6:00pm on Saturday 7 November 2026. The live broadcast will combine historic Carnival footage, the build-up to 2026 and live coverage from around the route. The main broadcast area for full live procession coverage is in Bridgwater town centre, which the procession usually reaches at approximately 7:00pm. That arrival time may vary on the night.
How much is a livestream ticket?
Early Bird access is £5 from 1 September until 11:59pm on Friday 6 November 2026. Access is £7 on Carnival Day, Saturday 7 November 2026.

Use the same email address that was entered when the ticket was bought. Your ticket access is linked to that address.

Check the spam or junk folder for the ticket email address, allow a few minutes for delivery, and then request a fresh link. Use the newest message if more than one arrives.

Check your internet connection and device volume, refresh the watch page, and close any duplicate stream tabs. If the problem continues, try a current browser or another device.
How many devices can I watch on?
Each ticket allows one active stream at a time. You can move to another phone, tablet, computer or TV, but the previous device may continue for up to about ten minutes.
Will a replay be available?
Replay availability has not yet been confirmed. We will publish the final replay policy before ticket sales open.
